My other musical activities include Half Six, now a four-piece with Meri Lawes (guitar), Rosie MacDiarmid (fiddle) and Phoebe Rees (fiddle, viola). We play mostly tunes, and occasional songs, from Scotland, Ireland, England, Cape Breton, our own heads and elsewhere. See the Half Six Facebook page. Meri and I started playing as a duo many years ago, and also as part of Bosco, with Jock Tyldesley, Vera van Heeringen and (for a while) Gary Santry. Rosie is a Scottish fiddler with a great traditional playing style which lends itself as well to Galician muiñeiras as to reels and strathspeys. New member Phoebe also learned the fiddle in Scotland but can turn her hand to many styles.
I also play occasionally in duos with singer and instrumentalist Martin Hugill and concertina player and singer Michelle Soinne, and promote occasional gigs with Eirene Craney as Borderline Music.
